Why every meetup should ship a recording
Half your community couldn't make it. Here's how the best hosts keep them in the loop.
Localhost team · 2026

A meetup with 200 people in the room has 2,000 people who wanted to be there. The recording is how you reach them, and it is the cheapest growth channel a community has.
Record everything, edit nothing
A phone on a tripod pointed at the speaker, plugged into the room audio, is enough. Do not wait for a polished edit; upload the raw file within 48 hours while the event is still fresh in people's feeds.
Put it on the same link
The event page already has every attendee's attention and every RSVP-that-didn't-come's regret. Drop the recording, the slides and the photos there. On Localhost the page emails everyone who ticked "send me the recording".
Tell the followers
A post with the recording is the best reason to follow a community. Followers get the next event first, so each recording feeds the next room.
Ask the speakers to share it
Speakers want the clip. Send each one a link straight to their talk and they will do your distribution for you.
